The reverse side of 2023 British Gold Coronation of the King Coins bears the royal cypher of His Majesty King Charles III. This emblem includes a crown placed above the cypher, surrounded by a laurel wreath. The coin also includes the official date of the coronation.
The ancient ritual of anointing saw the Archbishop of Canterbury use holy oil perfumed with sesame, rose, jasmine, and other precious ingredients, poured from a golden eagle-shaped ampulla onto the King’s hands, breast, and head.
