The United States Mint offers the American Gold Eagle in three versions each year. The oldest options are the BU Gold Eagle and the Proof Gold Eagle, both of which were introduced in 1986. In 2006, the mint introduced a second collectible version with unique visuals. The Burnished Gold Eagle was originally available in four weights, but as of 2011, it has only been available in 1 oz gold. Right now, 2022-W 1 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle Coins are available at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each of the 2022-W 1 oz Burnished American Gold Eagles offered here comes with US Mint packaging. The coins are housed in plastic capsules and are housed in display boxes. The coins are presented in a Gold Eagle-themed outer shipper and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from the mint.
Burnished Gold Eagles were introduced in 2006 with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz options. The coins were offered as such through 2008, with the Great Recession forcing a two-year pause in the series in 2009 and 2010. When the Burnished Gold Eagle returned in 2011, it was offered only as a 1 oz coin. Each Burnished Gold Eagle has unique, matte visuals that result from the coin blanks being burnished in drums with a polishing medium before being struck in coin presses.
The obverse of the 2022-W Burnished American Gold Eagle comes with a depiction of Lady Liberty. Designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this iconic image shows Liberty in full-length, front-facing relief as she strides forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.
On the reverse side of 2022-W 1 oz Burnished Gold Eagle Coins is a modern image of the American bald eagle. Introduced in mid-2021, this design from Jennie Norris shows a bald eagle’s head in left-profile relief with incredible layers of detail.
