The only coin missing from this set is the largest coin in the Silver Elephant release, the 1 kilo silver coin.
Somalia Silver Elephant Coins are available each year from the Bavarian State Mint. The series was introduced in 1999 as the Zambia Silver Elephant and only became a Somali issue in 2004. The collection has offered investors a new design on the reverse side of the coin and has seen its silver purity increase from .999 pure silver to .9999 pure silver, a change that took place in 2016.
In the obverse design of the 2022 Somalia Silver Elephant Coins in the First Struck 7-Coin Collection, the mint features the same design each year. The Somali coat of arms is shown here with a crowned shield that has a background field of horizontal lines and a single star at the center of the shield. The design on this side includes a beaded border around the field with the identifying hallmarks.
For the reverse design of the silver coins in the 2022 Somalia Elephant First Struck 7-Coin Collection, the Bavarian State Mint features two African bush elephants. The coins feature an image of an adult bush elephant walking along the savanna with its young calf at its side. The two are in left-profile relief as they walk along with trees on the horizon and birds flying overhead.
