The Gold Sovereign of Great Britain is one of the most recognizable coins in the world. More than just a well-known asset in the modern gold bullion market, the Gold Sovereign is a rare example of a former circulation gold piece that made the successful transition from circulating coinage to modern bullion investment. For 2022, the Royal Mint offers a one-year change in the reverse design to honor the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Today, 2022 Great Britain Gold Sovereign Coins are available to you online at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
If you wanted to trace the original roots of the Great Britain Sovereign back through English history, you would need to go all the way back to the 15th century and the rise of the Tudor Dynasty. King Henry VII, the founder of the dynasty and father of the infamous King Henry VIII, was the first to issue a coin known as the sovereign. At this point in English history, the coin was known as the English gold sovereign and it featured a bust of Henry VII on one side and an image of the Royal Arms of England with the Tudor rose.
All of these 2022 Great Britain Gold Sovereign Coins are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are offered individually inside plastic flips or by multiples of 25 in acrylic tubes.
Queen Elizabeth II features on the obverse side of 2022 Gold Sovereign Coins. Her Majesty has graced English coinage since 1952 when she ascended the throne upon the death of her father, King George VI. The Royal Mint of England now uses the fifth-generation portrait of the Queen from Jody Clark on the obverse of all its coinage. This design shows the Queen at the age of 89 and it includes the George IV State Diadem Crown upon her head.
For the reverse of 2022 Great Britain Sovereign Coins, the Royal Mint replaces the St. George design with that of the Royal Arms of England. 2022 is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years on the throne for the record-breaking monarch. The ROyal Arms features the quartered shield of the United Kingdom supported by the Lion of England and the Unicorn of Scotland with the Imperial Crown above.

"Fast shipping by JMBullion as usual. This coin is proof-like and looks beautiful. Don't let the weird rose gold/pink hue fool you, this has a more copper brown tint to the gold. A rich, golden yellow brown and mirror backgrounds. Highly recommend picking one of these up, the artistry and detail is stunning. To compare it against a US gold eagle, the eagle is more matte yellow color and this is mirror-like and a coppery tinted gold color. A wonderful tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's 70th year Platinum Jubilee as monarch. "
"Beautiful coin! I'm glad I snagged one before they were gone!"
