The Great Britain Sovereign Coins were first introduced in 1817 during the reign of King George III. Each new monarch to ascend to the throne is featured on the obverse during their respective reigns, with the portraits updated as those monarchs age on the throne.
All of these 2022 Great Britain Gold Quarter Sovereign Coins from Queen Elizabeth II’s reign are available inside individual blisterpacks. The blisterpacks are branded with Royal Mint design elements and protect the coin in sealed plastic at the center.
Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverse of the 2022 Great Britain Gold Quarter Sovereign. This is the final appearance of Her Late Majesty in this coin series, with Jody Clark’s 2015 depiction of Elizabeth II used on the coins. This design of the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom was created in 2022 for the Platinum Jubilee of Her Late Majesty. It includes the quartered shield with the coats of arms for England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, as well as the Lion of England and Unicorn of Scotland in support of the shield.
