The largest cat in the world, the Siberian tiger is treated with reverence and honor in South Korea. Though no longer present in the region, this magnificent tiger subspecies once roamed the mountains of South Korea, where it developed a powerful relationship with the native population there. When the South Korean Tiger Series launched in 2016, the Siberian tiger was featured as a fully grown cat. The adult Siberian continued to be featured until 2020, when KOMSCO reversed the lifecycle by featuring a young Siberian cub. The next year featured another cub, though slightly older. Now for the 2022 version, the tiger is growing steadily as it ascends a mountain on its own. These fresh yearly designs, along with the limited mintages, make this series quite popular with collectors across the globe.
Each 2022 10 oz South Korean Tiger Silver Medal has been crafted with an antique finish. In addition to highlighting the shadow elements of the design, this finish also lends the medal an appealing old-fashioned aesthetic. Struck in investment-grade pure silver at KOMSCO, these medals are considered new and will arrive to you housed in protective capsules.
The obverse of 2022 Antique South Korean Tiger Silver Medals features a young tiger climbing Seoraksan mountain. In this design, we also see additional mountain peaks in the background as well as a cable car being pulled upward. The obverse also contains inscriptions reading Korean Tiger 2022, 10 oz, Seoraksan.
On the reverse of 2022 10 oz South Korean Tiger Silver Medals, there is a depiction of the Korean peninsula. This design was crafted through letters of the Hangul alphabet, which gives it a unique, stylized appearance. The reverse also includes a tiger stripe pattern along the edge and the popular Korean symbol known as the Taegeuk.
