The tiger is the world’s largest living cat species. A member of the genus Panthera, the tiger is part of a feline family that includes the mountain lion, leopard, cheetah, and lion. Although the lion is referred to as the King of the Jungle, the tiger is the true king as the largest and most powerful cat, and is one of only two species that actually lives in the jungle.

Tigers are apex predators that feed on large prey such as deer and wild boar. Generally solitary, tigers become more social during the mating season and keep their offspring nearby for roughly two years before the young cubs go off on their own to establish an independent territory and home range.
