The reverse of the 2022 Proof Australian Wedge Tail Eagle Silver Coin displays the wedge-tailed eagle. In this high-relief depiction, the eagle is seen in left-profile relief opening its beak wide. The reverse also has a “P” mint mark indicating that they were made at the Perth Mint.
Each 2022 1 oz Proof Australian Wedge Tail Eagle Silver Coin will arrive inside an NGC protective plastic slab. These coins have been graded as PF70, indicating that they’re a flawless proof strike. These coins have their original mint luster with no detracting marks of any kind. Additionally, each coin is a First Day of Issue specimen, which means that the coin was received for grading within 24 hours of it being issued.
The Wedge-Tailed Eagle Series was introduced in 2014. Interestingly, the designs for this series come from John Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver for the US Mint. The reverse design remained the same from 2014 to 2015. After a change in 2016, it remained the same for 2017 as well. Since 2018, the design has changed annually.
