The Molon Labe release from Intaglio Mint is one of two new legal tender bullion coins from the mint. The Type I and Type II issues have the same designs on the obverse and reverse, but with a subtle difference in the strike of the coins. While the Type I coin was struck with Medallion Alignment for the die, with the images both upright as you spin the coin 180 degrees, the Type II release features a Coin Die Alignment with one image upright and the other upside down as you rotate the coin on its end 180 degrees.
For the obverse design of 2022 Niue Silver Molon Labe Type II Coins, the mint features a right-profile bust of Queen Elizabeth II. The depiction of the Queen shown here features Her Majesty with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The field includes a ring of Spartan shields and spears bordering the bust of the Queen.
In the reverse field of the 2022 1 oz Silver Molon Label Type II Coins, you’ll find a depiction of a Spartan warrior in the foreground. With his trademark Spartan helmet, he has a shield held up at his side. The background field offers a battle motif as well.
