The cheetah is most commonly found in sub-Saharan Africa, where it roams open forests and the grassy plains of the savanna. The cheetah is fairly easy to spot thanks to its unique black spots and white underbelly. As carnivores, cheetahs mainly subsist off of prey such as birds, hogs, and rabbits. They’ll sometimes go after smaller antelopes as well, such as the Springbok and the gazelle. Due to a loss of habitat and prey, the cheetah preservation status is currently considered Vulnerable.
