Coin Highlights:
In 2021, the United States Mint issued the first-ever design change in the series. The coins received a new reverse design element, replacing the original heraldic eagle design from John Mercanti that had been on the coins since 1986. The 2021 release featured the original design through the first half of the year before the new bald eagle design debuted midway through the year, giving both designs an appearance during the 35th anniversary of the series.
All of the 2022 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins available here at JM Bullion come with special occasion cards. The specially designed clamshell cards come black field, red trim, and a camouflage American flag along the top of the design field. The design is found on the front of the card with the identifying hallmarks on the back of the card.
On the obverse of 2022 American Silver Eagle Coins is a depiction of Walking Liberty. Created in 1916, Adolph A. Weinman developed this design with the French gold coin design known as The Sower widely believed to have inspired his depiction of Liberty. In this design, she is featured in left-profile relief walking toward the sun as it crests a mountain. Liberty is shown here with her right hand extended, the American flag draped around her figure, and her left hand carrying the branches of oak and laurel.
The reverse side of the 2022 1 oz Silver Eagle coin comes with the new design from Emily Damstra. She designed an image of the bald eagle soaring through the sky with its wings raised behind its figure and an oak branch in its talons.
