Considered a perfect specimen, these coins come with full, original mint luster and have no detracting flaws of any kind present. The Early Release designation indicates each coin was received by the NGC for certification within 30 days of release from the mint.
The new bald eagle design on the reverse of the coins comes from Jennie Norris. An accomplished graphic designer who has worked with several major brands on design schemes, Ms. Norris is also a professor at the University of Arizona and a member of the US Mint Artistic Infusion Program. This is her first major design on an American coin.
Liberty remains on the obverse of 2022 American Gold Eagle Coins. This classic design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens was created in 1907 and first featured on the $20 Gold Double Eagle from the United States Mint. It shows Liberty in front-facing relief as she walks toward you holding aloft a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left.
An American bald eagle is depicted in the new reverse design of 2022 1/2 oz Gold Eagle Coins. This design debuted midway through 2021 on the Gold Eagles and shows the head of the bald eagle in left-profile relief with intricate details in its physical features and plumage.
