Following in the footsteps of the popular Chiwoo Collection, the Zi:Sin Series began in 2017 and features a new design each year. The series began with Gallus and has also featured the Guardians known as Canis, Scrofa, Rattus, and Taurus. Like the lunar cycle, there are twelve characters in all, which means this series will continue through 2028. In addition to the gold medallions, KOMSCO also offers these designs in silver in a variety of weights and finishes.
The obverse of 2022 South Korean Zi:Sin Tigris Gold Medals features the Doggaebi. This grinning mythological creature has been featured on the obverse of these medals since the series began back in 2017. Considered the Eastern equivalent of the hobgoblin, the Doggaebi can ward off evil spirits while also deceiving and tricking his foes. There are inscriptions on the obverse as well that read 2022 Fine Gold .999, Republic of Korea, 1/10 Clay, KOMSCO.
On the reverse side of the 2022 1/10 oz South Korean Zi:Sin Gold Medal there is a depiction of Tigris. Here, this ancient warrior is shown in tiger-themed armor as he ascends a rocky fortress. You will also note tiger stripe tattoos on his arms as he clutches a powerful weapon known as a halberd. In the background, we see the full moon and a bamboo forest. There are also inscriptions reading Zi:Sin Tigris.
