The American Silver Eagle Series celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2021. For the first time in the history of the series, the US Mint is releasing a new design element on the coin. The new reverse image will be released on 2021-dated Silver Eagles by midyear, resulting in a two-version release in 2021. These early 2021 Silver Eagles mark the final release of the original reverse design with the heraldic eagle. Now, 2021-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins in perfect condition are available to you for purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The United States Mint has never made a permanent change to the appearance of its Silver Eagle coins. In fact, the only big change ever to come to the Silver Eagle before the 2021 date mark came in 2016 for the 30th-anniversary celebration. For that one year, the US Mint issued only the Proof Silver Eagle with an edge-lettered inscription honoring the 30th anniversary of the series.
While these particular 2021 Silver Eagles have the original combination of Walking Liberty and the Heraldic Eagle, by mid-2021, newly-issued coins with the same date mark will feature the new combination of Walking Liberty and a Soaring Bald Eagle. The new design was created by Emily Damstra, an artist with the Artistic Infusion Program.
Walking Liberty features on the obverse of 2021-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagles. Designed by Adolph A. Weinman in 1916, the image shows Liberty’s full profile as she walks along the land toward the sun on the horizon. She reaches for the sun with her right hand as she uses her left to carry the branches of oak and laurel. As she walks, she has the American flag draped around her figure.
For the final time, the heraldic eagle is found on the reverse of the 2021-W 1 oz Proof Silver Eagle. Created by John Mercanti, this is the latest version of the national seal. It depicts an eagle in front-facing relief supporting the US national shield.
These 2021-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins are in perfect condition. PR70 coins showcase full, original mint luster and have no detracting flaws. Coins with the DCAM designation have strong, frosted design elements and deeply-mirrored, clear background fields. The FDOI label, or First Day of Issue, is for those coins the PCGS receives within 24 hours of the original release by the mint.
