From 1986 to early 2021, the United States Mint issued the American Silver Eagle with two iconic designs on its obverse and reverse fields. The Walking Liberty design created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman was revived in 1986 to feature as the obverse design of the American Silver Eagle.

John Mercanti modernized the heraldic eagle design for the reverse of the Silver Eagle in 1986. In 2021, the US Mint made its first change to the designs of the Silver Eagle with the introduction of a new reverse design. After issuing 2021-dated coins with the original heraldic eagle, the US Mint eventually switched production to the new bald eagle design on the reverse. These 2021 Proof American Silver Eagles are the last with the original heraldic eagle design.

Obverse designs on these 2021-W 1 oz Proof Silver Eagle Coins feature the Walking Liberty image. Her effigy is set in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon with her right hand reaching out to the sun as her left carries the branches of oak and laurel.

Reverse imagery on 2021-W 1 oz Proof Silver Eagle Type 1 Coins includes the heraldic eagle of the United States. The front-facing bald eagle is shown with the US national shield on its chest as it clutches the arrows of war and olive branch of peace.

These 2021-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Type 1 Coins are available in perfect condition. PF70 coins showcase full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws. The coins also have UCAM and FR designations. UCAM stands for ultra-cameo proof and refers to the presence of strong, frosted designs and deeply-mirrored, clear fields. The FR label stands for First Release and indicates the coins were received for grading within 30 days of release.
