The year 2021 marked a turning point for Proof American Silver Eagles, as the 35th anniversary of the series introduced Emily Damstra’s flying eagle design on the reverse. This modification represented the first time in the 35-year run of the American Silver Eagle program that a central design element was updated. Today, 2021-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins in certified condition are available from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The Proof Silver Eagle, like its BU counterpart, was issued as Type 1 and Type 2 specimens in 2021. The Type 1 coins were struck from the start of the production calendar through early June, with John Mercanti’s original heraldic eagle visual on the reverse. Starting in July, the US Mint debuted coins with the new reverse design from Emily Damstra featuring an American bald eagle in flight.
All 2021-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins offered here come in perfect condition. PF70 coins have full, original mint luster and no visual detracting flaws. The UCAM designation indicates a proof with strong, frosted designs and deeply-mirrored, clear fields. AR stands for Advanced Release and indicates a coin that was received for grading before the products were available to the general public.
On the obverse of the 2021-W Proof American Silver Eagle is Adolph A. Weinman’s well-known Walking Liberty design. The artwork shows Liberty striding toward the horizon at sunset with the American flag draped around her figure. A new addition to the obverse in 2021 is Weinman’s signature, positioned on the lower right side of the design.
The reverse of the 2021-W 1 oz Proof Silver Eagle Coin features Emily Damstra’s flying eagle image. The bald eagle is illustrated in flight as it carries an oak branch in its talons. Encircling the design are the coin’s identifying inscriptions.
