The obverse side of the 2021-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle coin features a Walking Liberty. This design was created by Adolph A. Weinman and depicts a full-length figure of Liberty walking, draped in the flag, extending her right hand, and holding branches of laurel and oak in her left.
The reverse side of the 2021-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle coin features the heraldic eagle with a shield, an olive branch in the right talon, and a bundle of arrows in the left. This reverse design was the creation of John Mercanti, completed in 1986, for the release of this series. The design includes a triangular cluster of 13 stars over the eagle’s head representing the 13 original American colonies.
The NGC has given the 2021-W 1 oz American Silver Eagle coins a certification of PF69. This means that the coins have full, original mint luster with no more than two minor imperfections. These flaws are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and must be located outside the primary focal points of the coin.
The UCAM designation given the 2021-W 1 oz American Silver Eagle coins means they have been struck with specially polished dies that give the coins a deeply-mirrored finish with clear background fields. These “Type 1” American Silver Eagle coins feature the current heraldic eagle reverse design that was created by John Mercanti.
Each coin bears the “W” mint mark, indicating its striking at the West Point Mint.
