All of the 2021 American Silver Eagle Coins represent a final opportunity for investors and collectors to own the original design combinations in the series. On the 35th anniversary of the series, Walking Liberty and the Heraldic Eagle appear together for the final time. By the end of 2021, the series will have transitioned to the use of a new reverse design depicting an American bald eagle in flight.
The obverse of 2021-W Burnished American Silver Eagles comes with the historic vision of Walking Liberty. Created by Adolph A. Weinman, this design from the early 20th century shows Liberty in left-profile relief walking toward the sun on the horizon as the American flag is draped over her shoulders.
On the reverse side of the 2021-W 1 oz Burnished Silver Eagle is the heraldic eagle of the United States in its final appearance on the coins. Modified for this series in 1986 by John Mercanti, the heraldic eagle design features a bald eagle with the olive branch of peace and the arrows of war in its talons, the US national shield at its front, and a cluster of 13 stars above its head.
