The Proof American Gold Eagles issued in 2021 marked the 35th anniversary of the series and came with two versions. Through the first half of the year, the US Mint issued coins with the Type 1 design, or the original reverse from Miley Busiek. In July, the mint issued the new Type 2 design with a refreshed American bald eagle. Now, 2021-W 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins are available to you for purchase online from JM Bullion in near-perfect condition.
Coin Highlights:
In 2021, the 35th anniversary of the American Gold Eagle was marked with the first-ever release of a new design element on the coins. The all-new reverse was created by Jennie Norris and replaced the original design from Miley Busiek. The image of a family of bald eagles in their nest was created by Ms. Busiek in 1986 for the reverse of all American Gold Eagles.
To celebrate the 35th anniversary, the mint not only issued this new design, but did so in a split release that allowed the original design to feature on the coins one final time during this celebratory date mark. As such, the Type 1 and Type 2 designations refer to the different reverse versions issued in 2021.
Liberty remains on the obverse of 2021-W 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagles. This design was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for the $20 Gold Double Eagle. It shows Liberty in front-facing relief with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left.
An American bald eagle is depicted in the reverse design of the 2021-W 1/10 oz Proof Gold Eagle. In this design from Jennie Norris, the image shows a bald eagle head in left-profile relief with exceptional detail in the physical characteristics of the bird.
These 2021-W 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins are available to you in near-perfect condition. PR69 coins showcase full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detractions. Those flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and limited in scope to the areas outside the primary focal points of the coin. These DCAM specimens have strong, frosted designs and deeply-mirrored, clear fields.
