Certified American Gold Eagles represent a fraction of the overall mintage for any given version of the coin each year. After release from the US Mint, the coins are graded by companies like the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation and issued a certification number on the Sheldon numeric scale between 1 and 70, with 70 representing a perfect coin. Proof gold coins in the series are available with additional labels as well pointing to the brilliance of the coins. Proof American Gold Eagle Coins were introduced in 1986 alongside the Brilliant Uncirculated coins, but not with the same weights available from the start. Only the 1 oz Proof Gold Eagle was available in 1986. The three fractional-ounce coins were introduced over the next two years, with the 1/10 oz coin issued for the first time in 1988.
All of these 2021-W 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagles are perfect specimens according to the NGC. Coins in this condition have full, original mint luster and present with no detracting flaws of any kind on the designs or surface areas.
Included with your purchase of these NGC-graded coins are two additional labels. The UCAM label stands for ultra-cameo and refers to the stunning contrast between the strong, frosted design field and the deeply-mirrored, clear background field. The Early Release label indicates the coins were received by the NGC to be graded within 30 days of the initial release date from the US Mint.
On the obverse of 2021-W Proof American Gold Eagle Coins is a depiction of Lady Liberty. Created in 1907 for the $20 Double Gold Eagle, the image of Liberty found here is a front-facing relief in which Liberty walks toward the viewer holding up a large torch in her right hand as she clutches a large olive branch in her left hand.
The reverse field of the 2021-W 1/10 oz Proof Gold Eagles comes with the design of a family of bald eagles. The final use of Miley Busiek’s original 1986 artwork for this series, the design includes a female eagle and hatchling in the nest as a male eagle soars overhead.
