The San Francisco Mint is one of the two U.S. Mint branches that has struck these Morgan Silver Dollar coins each year they’ve been available. Initially opening in 1854, the San Francisco Mint struck these coins in their initial release period between 1878 and 1904 and started again in 1921. The imagery shown on both the obverse and reverse of these exclusive coins helps to represent American values and ideology.
The obverse of the 2021-S Morgan Silver Dollar Coin NGC MS70 shows the effigy of Lady Liberty. This design, created by George T. Morgan, shows Lady Liberty from her left profile. On her head, she wears a Phrygian cap, a laurel wreath, and a coronet crown. 13 stars surround the design on the edges of the obverse, and the coin’s release year is shown below Lady Liberty’s effigy.
