The United States Mint issued one of its most popular silver bullion commemorative coins in recent memory in 2021. The six-coin release featured five, modern Morgan Silver Dollars and one modern Peace Silver Dollar, all to honor the centennial of the last Morgan Silver Dollar and first Peace Silver Dollar from 1921. The release of the Morgan Silver Dollars was particularly notable as it included one version for each branch mint that historically issued the coins. Today, certified-perfect 2021-S Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The San Francisco Mint was one of five branch mints to issue Morgan Silver Dollars during the 1878-1904 and 1921 production cycles. San Francisco was also one of only two mints to strike the coins every year, with the Philadelphia Mint being the other. The San Francisco Mint and Philadelphia Mint are the only mints from the 19th century that issued Morgan Silver Dollars and are still operational today. The other two, the Carson City Mint and New Orleans Mint, closed in 1893 and 1909, respectively.
All of these 2021-S Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to you with protective plastic slabs and a perfect certification. The NGC issues a Mint State 70 grade to coins that have full, original mint luster and come with no detracting flaws on the designs or fields of the coin. First Day of Issue coins are those received by the NGC for grading within 24 hours of release from the mint.
On the obverse of 2021-S Morgan Dollars is a depiction of Lady Liberty. This left-profile bust was designed in 1878 by George T. Morgan and he worked with Anna Willess Williams as his model for the effigy of Liberty. Morgan was in his first year with the US Mint when he designed the Morgan Silver Dollar and would finish his career with the mint as its 7th Chief Engraver, a position he took in 1917.
The reverse of 2021-S Morgan Silver Dollar Coins comes with another design from Morgan. This is the heraldic eagle of the United States and was created in 1878 with the image of a front-facing bald eagle clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
