After issuing the Proof American Silver Eagle during the first seven years of the program’s existence, the San Francisco Mint returned to regular production of the Proof Silver Eagle in 2018. In 2021, several versions of the American Silver Eagle were issued in Type 1 and Type 2 releases, but not the S-Proof Silver Eagle. This coin only exists in 2021 as a Type 2 specimen. Today, 2021-S 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins are available to you online at JM Bullion in near-perfect condition.
Coin Highlights:
In 1986, the San Francisco Mint was chosen as the mint of production for all the new American Silver Eagle coins. Both the Brilliant Uncirculated 1 oz silver coins and these Proof 1 oz silver coins in the series were produced at San Francisco starting in 1986. While the BU coin remained there until 1998, the Proof coin was only issued at the San Francisco Mint through 1992. The coin would go on to be struck at the Philadelphia Mint from 1993 to 2000 and is now predominantly issued by the West Point Mint as of 2001. Beginning in 2018, however, lower mintages of S-Proof Silver Eagles have returned alongside the W-Proof Silver Eagles as a supplemental option for collectors.
All 2021-S 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins available here come in near-perfect condition. PR69 coins have full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detractions. These flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and limited in scope to the areas outside the primary focal points of the coin. The DCAM designation stands for deep-cameo proof and refers to the presence of strong, frosted designs overlaying deeply-mirrored, clear fields.
On the obverse of the 2021-S Proof Silver Eagle is a depiction of Walking Liberty. This 1916 design from Adolph A. Weinman shows the figure of Liberty in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon with her right arm extended and her left carrying branches of oak and laurel.
The reverse of 2021-S 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagles features the new image of the American bald eagle. Designed by Emily Damstra, it shows the eagle sweeping into view with a large oak branch in its talons.
