In 1921, the United States Mint issued two silver dollar designs as part of its relaunch. Production began early in the year with the revival of the historic Morgan Silver Dollar. By December, new dies were ready for the Peace Silver Dollar, introducing a new design. To mark the 100th anniversary of the final Morgan Dollar and first Peace Dollar, the US Mint released commemorative silver issues honoring both. Now, 2021 Peace Silver Dollar Coins in certified condition are available online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
In the obverse design of the 2021 Peace Silver Dollar, you’ll find a left-facing portrait of Liberty. This new design replaced the Morgan Dollar portrait and depicts Liberty with a tall, spiked crown suggestive of radiant sunlight. Teresa de Francisci, the artist’s wife, served as the inspiration for Anthony de Francisci’s Liberty.
For the reverse of the 2021 Peace Dollar Coin, the design shows a bald eagle at rest on a rock inscribed “PEACE,” holding an olive branch in its talons. Rays of sunlight rise from the lower fields, reflecting the theme of post–World War I peace.
Peace Silver Dollars debuted in late December 1921. The first coins were struck on December 28, 1921, with 1,006,473 1921-dated pieces produced by year’s end—all at the Philadelphia Mint. From 1922–1928 and again in 1934–1935, the San Francisco and Denver Mints also contributed to the series.
These 2021 Peace Silver Dollar Coins are Mint State 70 specimens, indicating a perfect coin. MS70 coins showcase full, original mint luster and no visible detractions. These coins are offered with either a PCGS or NGC certification, as well as labels in the slab that can vary by color/design. We cannot guarantee the grading house or label design/color in advance.
