The three branch mints that have struck the BU American Silver Eagle include the San Francisco Mint, Philadelphia Mint, and West Point Mint. The San Francisco Mint issued the coins from 1986 to 1998. The Philadelphia Mint issued the coins in 1999 and 2000. Since 2001, the West Point Mint has had the primary responsibility for coining. In 2020, the San Francisco Mint continued its annual supplemental coining, while the Philadelphia Mint was also pressed into service amidst the surge in demand during the COVID-19 pandemic. This demand has carried over to 2021, resulting in more emergency issues from the Philadelphia Mint.
All of the 2021 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins available in this product listing come to you in near-perfect condition. Mint State 69 coins have full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Examples of those flaws include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines, and these flaws must be outside the primary focal points. The First Strike designation is reserved for coins received for grading within 30 days of the US Mint’s release.
On the obverse of 2021 American Silver Eagle coins is the Walking Liberty design. The image of Walking Liberty depicts her in left-profile relief walking across the landscape toward a sun on the horizon that crests a mountain peak. She carries the branches of oak and laurel in her left hand, reaches out toward the sun with her right hand, and has the American flag draped over her shoulders.
The reverse side of the 2021 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle comes with a depiction of the heraldic eagle. In use for the final time in the series, the heraldic eagle depicts a bald eagle in front-facing relief supporting the US national shield. The eagle clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace, with a triangular cluster of 13 stars over its head.
