To mark the centennial of the final Morgan Silver Dollars in 2021, the United States Mint issued five silver bullion coins honoring the designs of George T. Morgan’s 19th-century silver dollar. Among the coins issued was one struck at the Philadelphia Mint with an honorary O privy mark for the New Orleans Mint. Today, 2021 O Privy Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion in perfect condition.
Coin Highlights:
The New Orleans Mint was authorized in March 1835 with Congressional approval of act that established the first branch mints of the United States Mint outside the Philadelphia Mint location. The New Orleans Mint was the third of those three to open, following the 1837 opening of the Charlotte Mint and the February 1838 opening of the Dahlonega Mint. Throughout its history, the New Orleans Mint issued almost all denominations of American coinage, including the Morgan Silver Dollar.
All of these 2021 O Privy Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to you in PCGS plastic slabs with a Mint State 70 grade. Coins in this condition are considered perfect specimens with full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws present. The coins are also First Strike specimens, meaning the PCGS received each one within 30 days of release from the mint.
On the obverse of 2021 Morgan Silver Dollar Coins is the historic Liberty portrait from George T. Morgan. The design shows Liberty in left-profile relief in a traditional Greco-Roman bust of the allegory. She wears the laurel wreath and coronet crowns, and the rim of the design field includes 13 stars.
The reverse side of 2021 O Privy Morgan Silver Dollars features the image of the heraldic eagle of the United States. Also designed by Morgan, this visual shows the front-facing bald eagle with the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. This side of the coin includes the honorary O privy mark. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, these coins have an O privy to honor the historic role of the now-defunct New Orleans Mint in producing Morgan Dollars.
