The Denver Mint is one of the younger branch mints of the United States Mint. Coining operations at the mint did not begin until 1906, meaning that programs such as the Morgan Silver Dollar were no longer in production once the mint opened its doors for coining. However, when silver dollar coining resumed in the US in 1921, the Denver Mint was ready to contribute. As the US Mint celebrates the centennial of that final issue, it offers silver bullion Morgan Dollars from the Denver Mint. Today certified-perfect 2021-D Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The Denver Mint has a long history prior to its status as a branch mint of the United States Mint system. The precursor to the mint was a privately run mint that produced gold coins from gold dust that miners brought in to Denver during the Colorado Gold Rush. In 1862, Congress authorized establishing a Denver facility that opened its doors one year later as a United States Assay Office. It wasn’t until 1906 that the Denver Mint began coining operations, elevating its status to branch mint.
All of the 2021-D Morgan Silver Dollar Coins available here come in perfect condition with plastic slabs from the PCGS. Coins in Mint State 70 condition have full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws present. The First Strike designation indicates the PCGS received the coins for certification within 30 days of release from the mint.
On the obverse of 2021-D Morgan Dollar Coins is a depiction of Lady Liberty. This bust of Liberty in left-profile relief shows her figure with a Phrygian cap on her head, as well as the coronet crown and laurel wreath. The field also includes 13 stars, with seven to the left of her portrait and six to the right.
The reverse of the 2021-D Morgan Silver Dollar comes with an image of the heraldic eagle. This effigy of the American bald eagle captures the bird in front-facing relief as it spreads its wings. The talons of the eagle hold the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. There is also a wreath of oak and laurel on this field of the coin.
