When the United States Mint introduced the original Morgan Silver Dollar in 1878, three of its branch mints were involved in production that year. The Carson City Mint was one of those three and its specimens would go down in history as some of the most sought-after in the series. When the US Mint honored the centennial of the last Morgan Silver Dollars in 2021, an honorary CC-privy mark was struck on one of the five versions issued. The Carson City Mint issued Morgan Dollars from 1878 to 1885 and again from 1889 to 1893 when it closed permanently. In honor of its historical contributions to the program, the Philadelphia Mint issued 2021 Morgan Silver Dollars with a CC privy mark as part of the commemorative series.
