The term allegory is a literary device referring to the use of human forms and characteristics to personify cultures, nations, and/or empires. Germania Mint’s The Allegories Series of silver rounds offers various depictions of well-known global allegorical figures alongside Germania, the historic female allegory for the German people. Today, 2021 5 oz Germania The Allegories Austria & Germania Silver Rounds are available to you online at JM Bullion.
Round Highlights:
Germania has remained the one constant in the obverse designs of the silver rounds in The Allegories Series. She is always featured on the obverse of the rounds, but the other female allegory depicted with her has changed with each release. From the debut that paired her with Britannia to the latest release pairing her with Austria, Germania has featured in different images on each silver round.
All 2021 5 oz Germania The Allegories Austria & Germania Silver Rounds come to you with individual plastic capsules. The 5 oz silver round is the second-largest round in the series behind only the 10 oz round and has the second-lowest mintage behind the same 10 oz silver round.
On the obverse side of 2021 Germania Austria & Germania Silver Rounds are effigies of the two female allegories. Reflective of the close cultural ties between these two nations, historically and currently, the design shows the two seated side-by-side with their hands clasped together at the center. Austria sits on the left of the field with a laurel wreath and a spear. Germania sits on the right with an oak wreath and the German imperial sword.
The reverse field of the 2021 5 oz Austria and Germania Silver Round features the coat of arms of the Germania Mint. This detailed design reflects various heraldic symbols common throughout the world. There is a quartered shield at the center with a double-headed eagle, a checkered field, a ribbon with three flowers, and a wild boar occupying the four quadrants, respectively. The shield is topped by an imperial crown and flanked by an oak wreath.
