If you have any interest in the Romanov family, you are probably familiar with the Faberge eggs. This was a collection of elaborately jeweled eggs produced by the House of Faberge primarily for Emperor Alexander III and his son Nicholas II. They commissioned new eggs each year and presented them to their wives on Easter. Nicholas also gifted his mother the Dowager Empress with an egg each year during his reign. In total about 70 eggs were produced, 50 of which went to the House of Romanov. Today, the majority of the eggs are kept in various museums and special collections throughout the world.
The obverse of 2021 2 oz Silver Faberge Mosaic Egg Coins contains a bust of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed by Ian Rank-Broadley for the Royal Mint in 1998, this portrait features Her Majesty in right-profile relief wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara gifted to her by Queen Mary in 1947. Also in the obverse design, there is a depiction of a Faberge egg opened to reveal the surprise inside. Inscribed on the edges are the hallmarks Niue Island, Elizabeth II, 2021, 2 Dollars, Ag .999.
On the reverse side of 2021 Niue Silver Faberge Coins, there is a depiction of the Mosaic egg. This closely adheres to the original pattern of the Mosaic, including its gemstone tapestry design divided by oval panels. The rest of the reverse design consists of a stunning display of crystal inserts, as well as the inscription Imperial Faberge Eggs.
Each 2021 2 oz Niue Faberge Mosaic Egg Coin will arrive inside a decorative presentation box with a Certificate of Authenticity. These incredible historical coins have been produced by the Mint of Poland in collaboration with Niue Island.
