Sima Yi is the second real-life hero to be featured in the Famous Chinese Warriors series after Lyu Bu was depicted in the inaugural release. Sima Yi was known for his military achievements as well as his governing abilities in the state of Cao Wei. Over time his clan came to control the state, which ultimately led to the creation of the Jin Dynasty following Yi’s death in 251.
The obverse of 2021 Antique Niue Silver Sima Yi Famous Chinese Warriors Coins contains a portrait of Queen Elizabeth. This effigy was created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley and at the time was just the fourth official portrait of the Queen designed for coinage. Inscriptions around the edges read Niue Island, 2021, Elizabeth II, Five Dollars, Ag .999.
On the reverse field of 2021 2 oz Antique Niue Silver Famous Chinese Warriors Coins is a depiction of Sima Yi. Yi is shown in full armor holding a gilded sword. Standing alongside him is a fierce tiger. In the background we see the Great Wall of China and inscribed on the edge is Yi’s name.
