The Labyrinth of Crete was a dizzying, massive maze created by one of the greatest architects and designers of the ancient world, Daedalus. The Labyrinth was built for King Minos of Crete and was specifically designed to house the Minotaur, a half-man, half-bull beast that was kept at the center of the Labyrinth.
All of these 2021 1.5 oz Solomon Islands Silver Minotaur Labyrinth Coins are available to you housed inside of plastic capsules. The unique square coins and capsules are set within custom packaging that includes graphic artwork on the exterior of the box with a slide-out housing to hold the coin and capsule. These coins are proof-like specimens with hints of frosting on the designs and a beautiful, clear background field. Each coin also comes with its own serial number on the obverse.
On the obverse of 2021 1.5 oz Solomon Islands Minotaur Labyrinth Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II at the center of the coin design element. This effigy is the popular fourth-generation bust of the Queen from the Royal Mint that was created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley. In the background field, an artistic design captures the death of the Minotaur at the hands of Theseus.
The reverse side of 2021 Solomon Islands Silver Minotaur Labyrinth Coins comes with a depiction of the Labyrinth. The complex maze was designed to keep the Minotaur safely within, but also as a means of submitting sacrificial humans to the Minotaur as food. When the hero Theseus went into the Labyrinth to kill the Minotaur, he brought a red ball of string with him to help trace his steps so he could find his way out.
In this unique interactive release, you will notice there is a red ball on the coin within the capsule that moves as you adjust how you are holding the coin in your hand. In this way, you can solve the Labyrinth just like Theseus.
