In 2015, the Pressburg Mint introduced the Tokelau Chronos Series as a 1 oz silver round collection. The 1 oz silver medallions were issued by the mint from 2015 to 2018. In 2019, the mint transitioned the series to a collection of 1 oz silver coins with legal tender status in Tokelau. The coins have been assigned a face value in New Zealand dollars, the official legal tender of Tokelau.
All of the 2021 1 oz Tokelau Chronos Silver Coins available in this listing come to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are packaged inside of protective acrylic capsules by the mint. With a mintage of 30,000 coins, the 2021 release is available with a volume of 10,000 coins higher than the 2020 release. The 2021 release also has its own new background elements and a latent image on the reverse that changes as you adjust the viewing angle of the coin.
On the obverse of 2021 Tokelau Chronos Silver Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, Elizabeth II is featured here in the fourth-generation design released by the Royal Mint of England in 1998. Ian Rank-Broadley created this effigy for the mint and it featured on British coins through 2015, Australian coins through 2018, and continues to grace the field of coins for Niue, Tuvalu, the Cook Islands, and Tokelau.
The reverse side of the 2021 1 oz Chronos Silver Coins comes with a new depiction of a clock. This year’s design element features ornate clock hands set to five minutes to 12. The background field on this side, like the background of the obverse, comes with an infinity pattern. This side of the coin has mermaids with anchors.
