According to many of the myths and legends surrounding the placement of the animals in the Zodiac, the ox was the second animal to arrive to a meeting with the Jade Emperor. The legends suggest that the ox would have been first if it were not for the crafty little mouse. As the ox approached the meeting, a river stood in his way. While this was no problem for the ox, the mouse would not be able to cross alone and used the ox to get across the river. Just before arriving to the meeting, he leapt from the ox to meet the emperor first. As such, the Year of the Mouse is first in the 12-year cycle, followed by the Year of the Ox.
All of these 2021 1 oz Royal Australian Mint Year of the Ox Silver Coins are available as individual coins or in multiples of 10. You will receive individual coins in plastic capsules, while multiples of 10 come in a roll. All coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
On the obverse of 2021 Royal Australian Mint Year of the Ox Silver Coins is a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the sixth-generation portrait for Australian coins and was initially created in 2015 by Jody Clark for the Royal Mint of England. The Queen’s portrait at the center is flanked by a wheel with all the animals of the Zodiac. With each new release, the animal represented by the date mark features at the top of the wheel. In this case, the powerful ox is directly overhead of Her Majesty.
The reverse design of the 2021 1 oz RAM Year of the Ox Silver Coin features a bull ox. The male ox is shown here with the branches of a willow draping down around the design element and a symbol for the ox above.
