2021 marked the centennial of a changing of the guard in American silver dollar coin designs. Since 1878, the only image that had appeared on US silver dollars was that of Lady Liberty from George T. Morgan. After the last consecutive Morgan Dollar issue in 1904, no fresh dollars were issued for circulation until 1921. In 1878, the US silver dollar returned to production with a new design from George T. Morgan. The combined designs of Lady Liberty and the heraldic eagle were featured on the coins annually through 1904, with the design returning in 1921. On December 28, 1921, the new Peace Dollar design replaced the Morgan and would remain in production annually through 1928, with a final two-year issue in 1934-1935.
Queen Elizabeth II is onf the obverse of 2021 Proof BVI Morgan and Peace Dollar Black Pearl Silver Coins. This effigy of the Queen was created for the Pobjoy Mint and features the Queen in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown.
