Coin Highlights:
From 2010 to 2013, the New Zealand Mint issued the Hawksbill Turtle Coin as the Fiji Taku. The coin had the same design as it does now, with some minor exceptions. The most obvious difference in the turtle design was the use of the word TAKU on the reverse instead of the word TURTLE. In the final year of issue as the Fiji Taku, the coin did not use Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy, but instead featured the Fijian coat of arms.
All of these 2021 1 oz New Zealand Silver $2 Niue Hawksbill Turtle Coins are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are offered individually inside of plastic flips or by multiples of 20 coins in tubes.
On the obverse side of 2021 New Zealand Silver $2 Niue Hawksbill Turtle Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara on her head. The Queen’s favorite tiara, this piece of jewelry was gifted to her grandmother, Mary of Teck, upon her marriage the future King George V of England.
The reverse face of the 2021 1 oz Silver $2 Niue Hawksbill Turtle Coins features a depiction of the hawksbill. The turtle is shown with its ornate shell design and a bubbly design field meant to reflect the turtle swimming through shallow ocean waters. The hawksbill turtle is so named because its mouth has a curved beak similar to that of a hawk or eagle.
