The EC8 program remains one of the most elite coinages to ever be produced by the Scottsdale Mint. The 2021 Silver St. Lucia Coin highlights one of the eight island territories found in the great Caribbean, Saint Lucia, and its rich culture and scenery. Home to the Diamond Waterfall and located in the South West of the island in a town called Soufrière, the St Lucia Botanical Gardens are the oldest on the island. Also called the Diamond Botanical Gardens, it covers an area of around six acres, and holds a lush selection of local flora, and Sulphur springs. The springs were formed approximately 40,000 years ago, and are weakened parts of an old collapsed crater of huge dimensions. Bathing in them has been said to be therapeutic for almost 250 years.
All of the 2021 1 oz EC8 Silver St. Lucia Coins in this listing are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. They are packaged in individual plastic to keep them pristine and impressive. If you order five coins, they will arrive on a skinboard, while 125 coins come in a box!
On the obverse of the coin, you’ll find the popular 1998 effigy of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. This right-profile relief depicts the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.
For the reverse, the coin holds an image of Etlingera elatior, more commonly known as the Torch Ginger, or the Ginger Flower. An attractive flower, it’s actually considered to be an invasive species in many places, due to being transported widely for decorative purposes. It’s a popular ingredient in fish dishes and for making chili throughout Southeast Asia.
