The American Silver Eagle moves in a new direction in 2021 with the release of a brand-new reverse design element. To mark the 35th anniversary of the series, the US Mint introduced a new reverse visual of the bald eagle midway through the year. The release of the new American Silver Eagle Type 2 Coin started in July 2021. The new image on the reverse comes from Emily Damstra. Ms. Damstra is a member of the United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program. She has previously worked with the Royal Canadian Mint on the Canadian Wildlife and Birds of Prey Series, as well as with the US Mint on the America the Beautiful Series.
All 2021 1 oz Colorized American Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins are available in this listing in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These particular coins are individually encapsulated and come with colorization on the reverse side of the coin only.
On the obverse of 2021 Colorized American Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins is a depiction of Walking Liberty. The design was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and shows the full-length figure of Liberty. She is shown walking in left-profile relief toward the sun as it rises over a mountain in the corner of the design field. Her right hand is outstretched while her left hand carries branches of oak and laurel.
The reverse field of 2021 1 oz Colorized Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins features the all-new design of the bald eagle from Emily Damstra. This design shows the bald eagle as it swoops down into the design field with its talons clutching a large oak branch. This side of the coin has been colorized to include the American flag flapping in the breeze in the background. The eagle is captured in accurate colors with its brown plumage on its body, as well as white plumage on its head and tail.
