On the obverse side of 2021 British Music Legends David Bowie Silver Coins is a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fifth-generation portrait of the Queen to feature on British coins. It shows the Queen in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. She is shown in this design at the age of 89 and the background field features the Royal Mint’s guilloche design element.

The reverse field of 2021 1 oz David Bowie Silver Coins comes with a portrait of Bowie from the Aladdin Sane era of his career. This came following the first major transition in his career and coincided with the release of his sixth overall album, and the first album he issued from a position of stardom. The design element includes a lightning bolt behind his figure, his name “Bowie” in his common typeface, and a field of stars.
