Effigies of Britannia on coins issued in the British Isles are older than the modern kingdom and monarchy that rules England. In fact, the first effigy of Britannia appeared on British coinage nearly 2,000 years ago. During the 1st century AD, the Roman Empire issued coins in the province of Britannia featuring her effigy during the reign of Emperor Hadrian.
In 1672, Britannia became a regular fixture of British coinage during the reign of King Charles II. Since that time, Britannia has featured on British coinage annually. Since 1987, she has been the face of the nations official bullion coin series. British Britannia Coins are available in gold, silver, and platinum as of 2018.
The obverse of 2021 1 oz British Gold Oriental Border Britannia Coins includes a bust of Queen Elizabeth II. In this portrait, Her Majesty is shown in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. The image of the Queen shown here is the fifth-generation design to feature on British coinage and was developed in 2015 by Jody Clark.
On the reverse field of 2021 British Gold Oriental Border Britannia Coins, you will find the combined elements of Britannia and the Oriental Border design element. The bust of Britannia is shown with her figure facing forward and her head looking left. Her left hand holds a trident, giving her control over the seas. Her right hand clutches an olive branch, symbolizing a desire for peace, but rests on a shield emblazoned with the Union Jack, symbolizing a readiness to defend Britain. The entire design field is surrounded by the Oriental Border, just as the British Trade Dollar did when it was produced in the late-19th century.
These 2021 1 oz British Gold Oriental Border Britannia Coins are available to you with individual plastic capsules, and all coins come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition from the mint.
