Arguably the most prominent Caribbean coin program of the last several years has been the Barbados Trident. Struck by the Scottsdale Mint on behalf of the small island nation, the Barbados Trident offers stability in its annual designs with small tweaks to the design fields each year that offer something new as well. Right now, 2021 1 oz Barbados Silver Trident Coins are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each of the 2021 1 oz Barbados Silver Trident Coins available in this product listing comes in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins in this series are packaged individually in protective plastic flips with multiples of 20 in tubes. Mint-sealed boxes of 500 coins are also available and house 25 tubes of 20 coins each. As with previous releases of the coin, the new 2021 coin comes with a different background element on the reverse.
In the first release of the series in 2017, the Scottsdale Mint featured tight, wavy lines throughout the background field. The 2018 coin offered more of a gentle ripple effect on the background field, while the 2019 brought back the tight lines, this time arranged in a swirling pattern. The 2020 coin also had a gentle ripple effect, but this time in concentric lines drifting off in the same direction.
The obverse of the 2021 Barbados Silver Trident Coin comes with an image of the Barbadian coat of arms. The coat of arms for the nation was established by a royal warrant of Queen Elizabeth II in 1966. It depicts a shield with a bearded fig tree at the center and the Red Pride of Barbados Flower depicted in both of the upper corners. The shield is supported by a heraldic dolphin on the left and a pelican on the right.
On the reverse of the new 2021 1 oz Barbados Silver Trident Coin comes with its own background element. For this year’s release, the Scottsdale Mint features tight wave lines that swirl out in opposite directions with each new ring, all emanating from a central field that is smooth. The trident head remains in the foreground as the symbol of the nation.
