The Quokka is the latest native animal species from Australia to feature in a bullion coin collection from the Perth Mint. Introduced in 2020, the Quokka is set to follow in the footsteps of other major series from Perth by using new design elements on the reverse for each date mark. Today, 2021 1 oz Australian Quokka Silver Coins are available to you online at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The Australian Quokka Series debuted in 2020 with a different kind of design that was more artistic in nature. It captured the lovable appearance of the quokka as many have managed to capture it in selfies on the islands off Western Australia where the quokka is found in its native range. The 2021 design brings a more lifelike appearance to the design element.
All of the 2021 1 oz Australian Quokka Silver Coins in this listing come to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins in this series are offered individually inside of acrylic capsules. Multiples can be purchased in rolls of 20 or boxes of 100. The box contains a total of five rolls of 20 coins each. Like many other new silver bullion coins from the Perth Mint, there is a security feature hidden within the design field of the 2021 Silver Quokka. In this case, there is a micro-laser etched number on the reverse field that isn’t visible without the aid of magnification.
On the obverse of 2021 Australian Quokka Silver Coins is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. England’s longest-reigning monarch, Her Majesty is featured here in a design adopted on Australian coins in 2018. The right-profile bust of Her Majesty was created in 2015 by Jody Clark. The image shows the Queen at the age of 89 and is the first on an Australian coin since 1966 to include the Queen’s shoulders and neckline together in the portrait.
The reverse side of the 2021 1 oz Quokka Silver Coin comes with an image of two quokkas. In this particular design, an adult quokka is shown with its young joey nearby. Quokkas are primarily found on two islands off the coast of Western Australia. This includes Rottnest Island and Bald Island.
