After these coins were struck, the US Mint underwent a pause in coining to swap out dies in its presses and begin production of the new American Silver Eagle with its all-new vision of the bald eagle on the reverse.
The obverse of these 2021 1 oz Silver Eagle Type 1 Coins is Walking Liberty. Designed by Adolph A. Weinman, this historic design shows Liberty in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon as it crests over a mountain peak.
On the reverse side of 2021 American Silver Eagle Type 1 Coins, you will find the original heraldic eagle design from John Mercanti. One of the final coins from the US Mint to feature this design in this series, the image shows the bald eagle in front-facing relief as it supports the US national shield. The eagle is clutching the arrows of war and olive branch of peace in its talons. There is also a triangular cluster of 13 stars over its head.
