Since its debut in 1986, the 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coin has featured the same obverse and reverse design elements. Coins dated 1986 to 2021 all feature these two designs with no changes to either side in 35 years. Now, with the release of 2021 Type 2 coins, a new design comes to the reverse side and marks the start of a new era for the Silver Eagle. Today, certified-perfect 2021 1 oz American Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The original design of the reverse of the American Silver Eagle featured the Heraldic Eagle of the United States. An official government emblem, the Heraldic Eagle was modernized for this series in 1986 by John Mercanti and was based on a design that has been in use on American coins since 1795. The new design from Emily Damstra brings a sense of realism to the image of the bald eagle on the reverse.
All of the 2021 1 oz American Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins listed here come with a perfect certification from the PCGS. Coins in Mint State 70 condition have no detracting flaws and boast full, original mint luster. The included First Strike label identifies these coins as ones received by the PCGS for grading within 30 days of the US Mint’s initial release of Type 2 coins.
On the obverse of 2021 American Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins is a depiction of Walking Liberty. The image of Lady Liberty shown here was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and used on the half dollar through 1947. To bring the modern Walking Liberty visual closer to Weinman’s original work, his “AW” signature mark is now present on the obverse field along with the Walking Liberty image.
The reverse side of 2021 1 oz Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins features an all-new design from Emily Damstra. This realistic depiction of the eagle shows the powerful aerial predator in flight as its talons clutch a large oak branch.
