For the 35th anniversary of American Silver Eagles, the United States Mint released two types of silver coins. Type 1 features the same John Mercanti design on the reverse and type 2 depicts an all-new design, by Emily Danstra. The United States Mint developed new designs for both American Silver Eagle and American Gold Eagle collections. Now, 2021 1 oz American Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins are available at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The obverse of 2021 American Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins feature the timeless Walking Liberty design. This Adolph A. Weinman classic image was originally developed in 1916 and used by the United States Mint on the half-dollar. Liberty is shown in left-profile relief walking toward the sun on the horizon. New to the design is Weinman’s initials of “AW” seen in the bottom right of the obverse.
The brand-new reverse field of 2021 1 oz Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins was designed by Emily Danstra. The original list included upwards of 30 different designs. In the end, the United States Mint chose this new bald eagle in mid-flight to replace the John Mercanti design that ran from 1986.
All 2021 1 oz American Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins will come in NGC protective plastic slabs. These coins are graded MS70 by the NGC. MS70 coins are perfect specimens with no post-production imperfections. They include their full, original mint luster.
Popularity in American Silver Eagles reached new heights in the early 2000s. After the combined mintage totaled upwards of 12 million in 2006, it quickly rose to 41 million just five years later. The last time mintage didn’t hit 10 million was back in 2005.
