The 35th anniversary of the American Silver Eagle arrives in 2021, with the United States Mint planning for a new design element on the reverse. Since its 1986 debut, the silver coins in this series have boasted the same images of Walking Liberty on the obverse and the Heraldic Eagle on the reverse. While change is coming, it hasn’t arrived yet. The US Mint plans a dual-release in 2021 with the original design combinations first and the new design combinations by mid-year. Today, 2021 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
American Silver Eagles are offered by the United States Mint in Brilliant Uncirculated condition as the primary option each year. Investors can also find the BU American Silver Eagle with colorized and gilded finishes. The gilded version of the coin has a thin layer of 24-karat gold applied to select design elements on the obverse field of the specimen. It is important to note that the United States Mint does not apply colorized or gilded finishes to coins. This gilded application was made after the coins left the US Mint.
All of the 2021 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins in this product listing come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Each one of the silver coins is packaged inside of a protective plastic capsule for storage.
Walking Liberty features on the obverse side of 2021 American Silver Eagle Coins. The design comes from Adolph A. Weinman and was created in 1916. The image was first used on American coins from 1916 to 1947 on the US half dollar. In this depiction, Liberty walks toward the sun as it crests a mountain on the horizon. Her right hand is outstretched toward the sun on the horizon with the American flag draped over her shoulders and the branches of oak and laurel in her left hand. The gilded layer on the obverse is applied only to the figure of Liberty, the land upon which she walks, the mountain, and the sun.
In the reverse design of the 2021 1 oz American Silver Eagle is the heraldic eagle of the United States. This version of the national emblem was created in 1986 by John Mercanti. His notable inclusion in the design is a triangular cluster of 13 stars above the head of the eagle.
