The 2021 release date in the American Silver Eagle Series is one that investors and collectors will not soon forget. Beyond simply being the 35th anniversary of the series, it is also the first date mark ever in the series to feature a new design element on one side of the coin. With the release of Type 2 coins midway through the year, the US Mint has two versions of the coin available to investors and collectors. The Type 1 coins released early in the year feature the original design combinations. You can now own both of these coins together in a single plastic slab with certifications from the PCGS. Today, 2021 1 oz American Silver Eagle 2-Coin Sets in near-perfect condition are available to you online from JM Bullion.
Coin Set Highlights:
The release of the American Silver Eagle Type 2 coin in 2021 marks the first-ever release of two different design combinations for the Silver Eagle coin. To meet the continued demand for the coins in late 2020 and early 2021, the US Mint continued with the production of its original design combination on what became known as Type 1 2021 coins. The midyear switch to the new reverse design offers what is now known as the Type 2 2021 coin.
All 2021 1 oz American Silver Eagle 2-Coin Sets available in this listing come with a distinctive Eagle label inside the two-coin slab. The eagle soars cross the labels inside the slab with both the Type 1 and Type 2 reverse fields arranged facing out on this side. Both coins are Mint State 69 specimens with full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor flaws. These detractions are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines. Additionally, these flaws must be located outside the primary focal points.
On the obverse of 2021 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins is Walking Liberty. This iconic design from Adolph A. Weinman has been on the obverse of these coins since 1986. The Type 2 coin has minor visual enhancements and the inclusion of Weinman’s original “AW” signature mark as a means of bringing the design closer to his 1916 work of art.
The reverse side of 2021 American Silver Eagle Type 1 coins features the heraldic eagle of the United States. Designed by John Mercanti in 1986, the heraldic eagle graced the coins from the debut year through the release of 2021 Type 1 coins. The reverse of the 2021 American Silver Eagle Type 2 coins features Emily Damstra’s new image of a bald eagle soaring through the sky with an oak branch in its talons.
