Each 2021 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coin available here comes with a near-perfect certification. A coin graded Mint State 69 exhibits full, original mint luster and has a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. These flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and limited in scope to the areas outside of the primary focal points. The First Day of Issue label indicates that each coin was received by the PCGS for certification within 24 hours of its release from the US Mint.
The new reverse design makes its debut on the 2021 American Gold Eagle Coin with the Type 2 release. The new design now featured on the reverse of the coins comes from Jennie Norris, who is making her first major contribution to coinage design at the United States Mint through its Artistic Infusion Program.
The obverse side of 2021 1 oz Gold Eagles depicts Liberty. This iconic design was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and was among the first modern designs to sweep its way onto American coinage during the first two decades of the 20th century. It has been enhanced in this release to bring greater detail to the stars, torch, U.S. Capitol Building, and the rays of sunshine. Liberty walks forward carrying a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left.
On the reverse field of 2021 American Gold Eagle Type 2 Coins is a depiction of the head of a bald eagle. This fresh design showcases the natural beauty of the bird with an incredible level of detail present in the plumage of the creature. The new Type 2 coins now have a reeded edge variation for anti-counterfeiting protection.
