The American Gold Eagle now has a new design element for the first time in its 35-year history. With a refreshed design on the reverse of the coin, courtesy of Jennie Norries, the series is poised to stay at the top of the gold bullion marketplace. Coin Highlights:
Each 2021 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coin listed here comes with a near-perfect condition. Coins with a Mint State 69 certification exhibit full, original mint luster with no more than two minor detracting flaws. Examples of the acceptable flaws at this grade level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines that have to be located outside of the primary focal points of the coin. The Early Release label means the coins were received by the NGC for grading within 30 days of release from the mint.
With the release of the new American Gold Eagle Type 2 Coin, the US Mint offers up two new features for the coins. The coins now have a variation in the reeded edge for enhanced security against counterfeiting. Additionally, the US Mint has enhanced the small details of the stars, torch, Capitol Building, and sun rays on the obverse to bring the design closer to Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ original 1907 design.
Lady Liberty features on the obverse of 2021 American Gold Eagle Coins. Her effigy is featured in front-facing relief holding a torch in her right hand with an olive branch in her left hand. The design includes the U.S. Capitol Building in the background with rays of sunshine emerging from the horizon and a ring of 50 stars around her figure.
A new depiction of the American bald eagle is found in the reverse field of 2021 1 oz Gold Eagles. The design from Jennie Norris depicts the eagle’s head in left-profile relief as the aerial predator uses its sharp gaze to spot its target.
