Somalia’s coat of arms is featured in the obverse design field of the 2021 Somalia Gold Elephant. This design includes a crowned shield with a single star at its center. The star is set on a background field of horizontal lines with leopards supporting the shield from either side. Beneath the design element is a set of crossed spears and fern leaves. The coins have a beaded border element on this side.
A large African bush elephant is found on the reverse of 2021 1/4 oz Somalia Gold Elephant Coins. The bush elephant is one of two species of elephant that lives on the African continent and is the largest living land mammal in the world.
